Since Lithuania declared independence on March 11, 1990, it has kept strong democratic traditions. Its capital Vilnius boasts a Baroque Old Town that is the largest in Eastern Europe and is often compared to Prague. In May 2004, Lithuania joined the European Union Figures show that Lithuanians comprise one of the largest groups of migrants
to the UK in recent years. This has increased the need for Lithuanian
